Join us for the launch of David Chevasco’s latest book “Observations of Asia, of weakness, and of home : Poesías de andanzas, hogar y dolor”.

In this collection, Chevasco shares vivid impressions of life and travel in Asia, health and spiritual vulnerability, and a small collection of Haikus in Spanish. The Haikus are dedicated to his life in Gibraltar and Andalucía, and in particular to his grandparents.

The book launch will take place at the Fine Arts Gallery, Casemates Square on Monday 23rd February, from 16:30–18:30.

Celebrate the launch with an evening of conversation and community, with book readings beginning at 17:15.

About the Author

David Chevasco was born in Gibraltar in 1981. He studied English Language and
Literature at The University of Reading (UK), attained his CELTA Teaching Certificate in
Rome, Italy, and completed an MA in TESOL with University College London. He has
taught English as a second or foreign language for over 20 years in various countries,
such as Italy, the UK, Spain, and Japan. He is currently a full-time lecturer at Chiba
University, Japan and founded the Gibraltar Study Abroad programme in 2022 through
which he brings university students from Japan to Gibraltar twice a year. He has
published academic books and journal articles, including the first data set of Llanito as a
language code in 2019. Since 2024, he has taken the plunge into creative writing,
publishing short stories and more recently poetry.
